Stephen King, the renowned author of horror novels, has never been one to hold back his thoughts on Donald Trump, despite facing threats of a boycott for making a joke about the former President.
King has frequently expressed his views on the current administration and continues to do so unabashedly.
Despite the backlash he received for his controversial joke, King remains unapologetic in his critique of the policies enacted by Trump since his return to office in January. King’s comments come as reports came in that Trump’s ‘mental collapse’ is being fuelled by two key factors.
During an interview on MSNBC’s Velshi, King voiced his latest apprehensions.
In conversation with host Ali Velshi, King confessed that one aspect of Trump truly terrifies him regarding the future, reports the Mirror US.
“The worst thing that I could think of is that this guy would get a third term because he’s basically an idiot, isn’t he?” he stated.
“I mean, he doesn’t read.”
King then revealed that what he finds most frightening about Trump is his belief that he can do no wrong, describing it as a “dangerous” trait for a President to possess.
“That is a dangerous thing,” he asserted.
“He is basically, I don’t want to use the word ‘crazy,’ because I don’t really think that he is, but he’s certainly dangerous.”

King had previously mused over the potential ending he would pen for the Trump presidency if it were his story to write, stating that impeachment would be the only satisfactory conclusion.
“I would love to see him retired, let’s put it that way,” he declared. “The bad ending would be that he gets a third term and takes things over completely. It’s a horror story either way. Trump is a horror story, isn’t he?”
This recent comment from King follows an incident where he was labelled as “racist” due to a joke he made about Trump on social media back in May.
At that time, he took to Instagram to share a joke: “Why did Donald J. Trump cross the road? To see Haitians eating pets on the other side.”
The jest was a nod to a claim made by the President during his campaign that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were consuming the pet cats and dogs of local residents. Despite facing backlash, both he and Vice President JD Vance, who hails from the state, stood firm on their assertions.

Following the backlash for his joke, where he was accused of racism, King returned to the app to rebuke his critics, asserting that his joke was aimed at Trump, not the immigrants.
“The joke was about Trump. If you don’t get that, you should see a doctor and get your sense of humour checked,” he retorted at the time.
He then followed up with another statement addressing other contentious false claims made during the campaign.
“Anyone else notice how all of a sudden no one’s eating our cats and dogs anymore? No one’s performing sex change operations in schools or aborting babies after birth anymore,” he penned. “The price of eggs doesn’t matter and a recession isn’t a bad thing, it’s just a necessary growing pain.”
