The Combined Army Formation of the Wehrmacht was a military organizational structure during World War II that brought together various branches of the armed forces under a common command. Such formations were created to maximize combat power by strategically coordinating infantry, armored troops, artillery, engineer units, and often also air force elements. This allowed for greater flexibility on the battlefield and better adaptation to different combat situations. Combined battle groups (Kampfgruppen) were frequently used, especially on the Eastern Front. These were often formed ad hoc from various units to meet specific tactical challenges.
