The Kettenkrad (full name: Sd.Kfz. 2 – Sonderkraftfahrzeug 2) was a half-tracked vehicle used by the German Wehrmacht during World War II. Originally developed for the Luftwaffe, the Kettenkrad was primarily used for towing light artillery, transporting soldiers and supplies, and operating on difficult terrain such as mud, sand, or snow. The vehicle was equipped with a 1.5-liter Opel engine and could reach a top speed of approximately 70 km/h, making it one of the fastest tracked vehicles of its time. With its unique design, combining motorcycle steering at the front and track drive at the rear, the Kettenkrad was not only robust but also extremely maneuverable and versatile. After the war, it also found application in agriculture and forestry, where its excellent off-road capabilities were valued.
