A mum has revealed her horror after she was savagely attacked by a dog in Liverpool, leaving her lucky not to lose her lip. Cody Davies was enjoying a night out with a friend when the terrifying incident occurred around 1am on Sunday, June 29.
As she strolled past the iconic Beatles statue on the renowned Matthew Street, Cody paused to pet what she described as a “pitbull-type dog”, only for the animal to suddenly leap up and bite her face.
The 31 year old, hailing from Port Sunlight, was rushed to Aintree Hospital from the city centre where she received 20 stitches to her face, being discharged around 10am the following day. Cody issued a stark warning to others, urging them not to approach dogs unless they are certain of their safety.
‘I love my dogs’
She said: “I feel terrible and I feel so sad. I love my dogs and this dog was just playing with its owner in the street so I went over to stroke it.
“When I approached, the woman didn’t warn me against getting close but when I did, it jumped up and bit my face. I was running around with my hands covering my face and blood pouring from my face.”, reports the Liverpool Echo.

No taxi help
“No taxis would take me because I was covered in blood and thankfully someone rang an ambulance for me.”
Cody has since lodged a police report and is hopeful that officers can locate the woman, to prevent anyone else from being attacked by the dog.
The mother-of-two, who owns two French bulldogs herself, confessed that the incident has made her apprehensive around dogs and she has found it difficult explaining the situation to her daughter.

Officers are tirelessly working the case, interviewing witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage in hopes of piecing together the events.
Report dangerous dogs
Chief Inspector Nathaniel Stockley expressed his concern, stating: “This attack left a woman requiring hospital treatment for injuries to her face.”
He continued: “We have identified the dog and its owner and our enquiries into the incident are ongoing. We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have information to come forward as soon as possible.”
Stockley also highlighted the broader issue, urging the public to report dangerous dogs: “This case highlights in stark terms the potential dangers of dogs, and I would appeal to anyone with information about dangerous dogs in their area to contact us so that we can take proactive action.”
