Reform UK Nigel Farage has described his hopes that the regime in control of Iran will get “wiped out”. Mr Farage said the people of Iran “deserve better” than the theocratic government whose nuclear programme is now the target of Israeli bombing raids.

He said he is not “pro de-escalation” and said he wanted to see an end to the regime. His comments come as President Trump keeps the world guessing about his intentions.

The US President is demanding an “unconditional surrender” by Iran. When asked whether the United States will get involved in the military action, President Trump said: “I may do it, I may not do it. Nobody knows what I want to do.”

Speaking at a net zero event in London, Mr Farage said: “God knows what will happen with Iran. Hopefully it will get wiped out very shortly.

“I’m not pro de-escalation. Let’s get rid of this bloody awful [regime].”

He added: “I think the lovely Persian people deserve better.”
