Iranian refugee Ahmadreza Khalafi sexually assaulted a teenager whilst she was on a night out with her friends.
Patrick Christys has taken GB News viewers inside a dramatic sentencing hearing, witnessing the moment a “predatory” Iranian illegal immigrant was jailed for a sickening attack on a British teenager.
Abby Johnson, 19, bravely waived her right to anonymity to reveal the “monstrous” details of her ordeal at the hands of Ahmad Khalaf, 29. Khalaf, who broke into Britain in the back of a lorry in 2024, pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault after stalking Abby like “prey” during a game of hide-and-seek with her friends.
Reporting directly from the courtroom, Patrick described the harrowing moment CCTV footage was played to the court—footage so graphic that Abby herself chose not to watch it. It showed Khalaf following a vulnerable Abby into a bush for a “continuous” 12-minute assault.
“He was so brazen,” Patrick noted. “You can see the blue lights of a parked police car just around the corner in the footage, and he didn’t care.
“As the CCTV was played, even his own cousin—who had offered to house him if he were released—put his head in his hands. He realised then what a monster he was.”
Despite Khalaf’s imposing six-foot, muscular frame, Patrick observed that the attacker was “not man enough” to look Abby in the eye as she stood to deliver a devastating victim impact statement.
Abby detailed the psychological trauma she has endured, including suicidal thoughts and a physical aversion to touch that has left her unable to even hug her own relatives.
The courtroom heard a string of excuses from the defence that Patrick branded as “pathetic” and “insulting.”
In a desperate bid for a lighter sentence, Khalaf’s legal team claimed he “didn’t understand” the cultural norms between men and women in Britain because he used to “drive a tractor in Iran”.
They claimed he fled Iran after converting to Christianity though the judge noted there was “absolutely no evidence” to support this.
The defence argued he had a “tough time” in prison because he couldn’t speak English.
Patrick personally debunked the language claim after a bizarre encounter in the waiting room.
Khalaf’s cousin, who had spoken “very good English” to Patrick before the hearing, suddenly feigned a total lack of English when questioned by the GB News cameras outside the court.
At his St Albans Crown Court trial on December 2, Khalafi pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual touching.
Today February 5, he was sentenced to four-and-a-half years’ imprisonment, with three years’ extended licence. He was also given a 10-year restraining order.
“I felt like I had that control back,” Abby told GB News.
“I felt like before this, he’d had the control the whole time. To watch him walk down all sad and acting was a very powerful feeling for me.
“I’ve got my freedom back. I can move on with my life knowing all my fighting was worth it.”
She told Patrick that she will only feel truly safe once Khalaf is removed from the country entirely.
“I don’t feel safe with him here, and this is my home country,” she said. “I believe he should be deported for me to feel safe. I want to keep spreading awareness for everyone else.”
